Health and Safety Inspection Blitz
The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development’s proactive inspection blitzes and initiatives on sector-specific hazards are designed to raise awareness and increase compliance with health and safety legislation.
Each year, the ministry coordinates the proactive enforcement blitz and initiative schedules for the Occupational Health and Safety Program and the Employment Standards Program. The ministry places importance on protecting workers’ rights under both the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and the Employment Standards Act (ESA), and enhancing employers’ awareness of their responsibilities.
The Government of Ontario and its workplace partners are committed to eliminating all workplace injuries. Safe At Work Ontario is the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development’s compliance strategy, designed to:
- improve the health and safety culture of workplaces
- reduce workplace injuries and illness
